LaGrange, Ga. March 15, 2019 – The City of LaGrange will be holding a grand opening celebration for the new skatepark in Southbend Park Saturday, April 20th.
The celebration will include music, food trucks, contests, demos and prizes.
The new state-of-the-art skatepark was designed by Stantec Action Sports Group and constructed by New Line Skateparks.
This skatepark provides a safe, designated place for wheeled-sport enthusiasts including skateboarders, BMX bike riders, inline skaters and scooter riders.
The skate park is based on the latest skatepark design principles as well as durability and longevity. It features a mix of street and transition-style terrain with elements designed for all age group and ability levels.
The City of LaGrange received the prestigious Tony Hawk grant in the amount of $10,000 to help offset the cost of constructing the skatepark. Tony Hawk is one of the most recognized skateboarders in the world. The former professional skateboarder’s foundation, the Tony Hawk Foundation, helps to build skateparks in underprivileged areas.
The skatepark is located within Southbend Park in beautiful downtown LaGrange. The City of LaGrange and the Callaway Foundation held a ribbon cutting for Southbend Park and a sneak peek for the skatepark February 14th.
