50th Annual Great Locomotive Chase Festival (October 5-7, 2018)
An October tradition in Historic Adairsville since 1968. See parades, arts and crafts, entertainers and pageants. Enjoy carnival rides, great music, food and fireworks.
$3 for ages seven and older; admission good all three days.
Cartersville Bluegrass & Folk Festival (October 20, 2018)
Held at Friendship Plaza, with free admission and free music, this event is a must for those who love to tap their toes to the beat. There will be lots of musicians, vendors, food and adult beverages available throughout the day.
Down on the Farm
Find family-friendly fall farm fun at Pettit Creek Farms. See Georgia’s largest camel herd, along with zebra, Padagonian cavey, emu, herds of ponies and buffalo roaming…not to mention the proverbial cow, donkey, chicken, turkey, pig, goats, sheep and much, much more on this 80-acre farm. Beginning October 1, visit Pumpkin Fest where families are welcome, after 2 p.m., to visit the corn maze, the petting zoo, hayrides and shop for the perfect pumpkin.

Autumn is the perfect time to explore the outdoors in Cartersville. Just steps from Cartersville’s Main Street Exit on I-75, Pine Mountain Trailhead offers a challenging hike, taking visitors through a stream-filled forest studded with vast granite outcrops. With a summit that’s 1,562 feet above sea level, guests climb to the highest point in the city with rewarding views. This rocky mountaintop overlooks Lake Allatoona, Stone Mountain and Kennesaw Mountain.

Escape to the new Inn at Barnsley Resort which opened to rave reviews in March. This new three-story-Inn, inspired by the works of noted British architect Edwin Lutyens, known for significant English country homes from the turn of the 20th century, includes 55 additional guest rooms and suites perfect for accommodating couples, families, corporate groups and wedding guests. The Inn features stained and hand-scraped hardwood floors, exposed beams and scattered area rugs. A new guest registration area and adjacent living room serve as a relaxed gathering area for guests. The Inn also houses Addie’s Boutique where guests may pick up attire for the evening or other items to take home. The bedrooms are comfortably spacious, ranging from 378 to 528 square feet with a mix of king and double queen beds. The Inn’s third floor rooms offer charming features such as dormer windows, sloped ceilings and window seats.

Barnsley Resort also debuted another grand addition this Spring—Georgian Hall, with vaulted ceilings, stained, hand-scraped scissor trusses, painted millwork, dormer windows and a floor-to-ceiling fireplace, featuring 4,700+ square feet of space in the Savannah Ballroom with 1,800+ square feet of pre-function space. The Savannah Terrace will offer an outdoor gathering space for up to 215 guests while additional indoor meeting and event space will include the nearly 1,340-square-foot Dalton room, the Georgian Verandah and the Estate Lawn. With state-of-the-art audio-visual technology, Georgian Hall will play host to corporate meetings, weddings and other special events, all in the picturesque setting for which Barnsley Resort is known.
