Indie & Immersive Films · Special Guests · After Parties
The 13th Annual Macon Film Festival will shift from its previous spot on Macon, Georgia’s July calendar to the following month this year, opening Thursday, August 16 and running through Sunday, August 19, 2018.
What’s New this year: The 2018 Macon Film Festival explores the integration of art and technology by including new Fulldome and Virtual Reality submission categories. This will be the first time a fulldome festival has taken place within a traditional film festival setting and will feature artistic and documentary fulldome films, unique among the fulldome festival spectrum as most films of this type are comprised of strictly scientific content.
This offering is a first not just in Macon and Central Georgia, but anywhere. The second new category, Virtual Reality (VR), has become a staple at larger festivals such as Sundance and South by Southwest and gives the viewer a unique and immersive film experience. Macon Film Festival will offer VR screenings as well as the opportunity to interact with VR filmmakers. The Fulldome and Virtual Reality screenings are supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
The festival will announce special guests and workshops as well as plans for its ever popular nightly after parties soon. Check www.MaconFilmFestival.com and the festival’s social media platforms (links on the website) for updates.
