Events bring music on the mountain, nights on broadway, ghouls on the farm and more
Summer and fall happenings extend beyond the waterways with the outdoor activities Loudon County, Tennessee, is best known for. Guests to this east Tennessee destination are invited to enjoy a broad array of tastes, talents and events this region has to offer indoors and out. Starting in mid-May, the festivals and celebrations continue all summer, combining for an action-packed slate of events. Farmers’ markets, cruise-ins and Food Truck Fridays are all a part of the on-going summer fun here. In addition, there are some special events topping the list of reasons to visit this summer.
A perennial favorite is Music on the Mountain at the Tennessee Valley Winery. Throughout the summer and into fall, visitors enjoy free Saturday evening musical performances on the winery grounds. Lawn chairs and family fun are all in season here as patrons bring their own picnic basket and celebrate together.
The first Friday of each month brings music, food and crafts to the streets of Lenoir City during its Nights on Broadway celebration. From April through August, downtown merchants stay open late on first Fridays and are joined by vendors, entertainers and fun seekers from near and far.
Rockin’ the Docks brings thousands together for summer days filled with music and family fun on Fort Loudoun Lake. Twice each summer, Lenoir City Park is filled with music and food vendors, as well as children’s activities throughout the day. Nightfall brings musical headliners and a fabulous fireworks display. This year’s Rockin’ the Docks festivals will be held May 26 and June 30.
Lenoir City Park is also home to the 56th Annual Lenoir City Arts & Crafts Festival, to be held Saturday and Sunday, June 2-3. This waterfront event features nearly 250 artists and crafters from throughout the Southeast and beyond. The park is filled with displays of their works, which include jewelry, pottery, baskets, painting and more. Food vendors add to the enjoyment with tasty treats for all.
While summer is prime time for those who love to visit Loudon County, the seasonal fun doesn’t end there! Fall brings perhaps the biggest events of the year as the Dead Man’s Farm (9567 Hwy 11E, Lenoir City, TN 37772, 865-288-7344) opens its storied haunted house in late September. Nearby, Deep Well Farm’s (9567 Hwy 11E Lenoir City, TN 37772, 865-816-2131) pumpkin patch, corn maze and hayrides add to the fall fun.
In addition to the events line-up, visitors can enjoy the historic downtowns, championship golf and a collection of area attractions for additional summer fun. For information on lodging, dining and activities, as well as a full calendar of events, visit www.VisitLoudonCounty.com.
