An evolving downtown district creates a romantic getaway or gal pal trip
Corinth historically is known as a Civil War town in the northeast corner of Mississippi, so tourists might be surprised to learn that the downtown area has recently evolved into a thriving shopping district with an art gallery and three upscale restaurants plus a salon and spa. Tree-lined, walkable streets exude romance and a roof top bar offers an ambiance perfect for an intimate night cap or visit with friends. Visitors may come for history, but they’ll come back for the small town appeal of a romantic getaway or a fabulous gal pal trip.
Downtown shops and more
There’s so much to love about Corinth’s growing downtown district. Park your car and duck in and out of quaint boutiques with unique fashions, gifts, accessories, wares and even a specialty shop for furry friends (Puttin’ on the Ritz). There’s something for everyone and every budget, and no gal pal trip is really complete without some shopping.
Just a couple of blocks off of the main downtown area, visit Taylor Street where you’ll find Kate’s & Company, a gift shop and florist. From the latest in quality chalk paints to one-of-a-kind gifts, Kate’s is packed with niceties. And, be sure and visit Sanctuary Antiques next door. A treasure-filled church building awaits your visit to search for antiques, furniture, household goods and special gifts. Lord only knows what you’ll find here.
Shopping isn’t the only amenity in downtown Corinth. SoCo Grind is a great resting place and serves up the best in specialty coffees as well as offering a drink of the day.
Corinth Art Gallery is a community gem where art is gathered from a 300-mile radius and one artist per month is on display. The gallery offers art classes for kids during the summer and has a warm and inviting vibe. Take home note cards, prints and other fun finds.
Borroum’s Drug Store and Soda Fountain is a great pick for a quick lunch in the downtown area. Mississippi’s oldest operating drug store and soda fountain, Borroum’s is full of Native American artifacts, Civil War memorabilia and a working soda fountain. Order up good times, good conversation and hospitality to go along with an old-time soda or milkshake, and the infamous Corinth delicacy – the slugburger.
