Macon, GA—JULY 2016—This summer will be even hotter July 21 when the Macon Film Festival opens with special guest Andrew McCarthy, the iconic 80s Brat Pack film Pretty In Pink, a short film master class conducted by the Sundance Institute and a special screening and cocktail networking session with a Sundance film maker; and that’s just the first day!
No wonder MovieMaker Magazine named this festival one of the Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World. Movies programmed expressly for the festival’s audience will be screened in four historic downtown Macon venues over the four-day festival, July 21-24. Additionally, 61 films from 14 countries will compete in categories including Documentary, LGBT, Music, Narrative Feature, Narrative Shorts, Southern Documentary and Student Shorts.
Daily filmmaking workshops include: casting; sound design; Film In Georgia with a panel of industry insiders, and Short Film, including an overview of shorts programming and submissions for Sundance Film Festival, led by Sundance Shorts Programmer Mike Plante, followed by a short film screening and discussion with Sundance filmmaker and Athens, Georgia, native James Ponsoldt, about his experience creating short films and working with festivals.
Media Room, VIP/Filmmaker Lounge and Festival Headquarters will be open daily during the festival. Catered after parties with open bars will pop at a variety of hip venues each night.
