Lace up your race shoes April 12, 2014, and get ready to sprint towards good times during Historic Oakland Cemetery’s Run Like Hell: Pushing Up Daisies Edition (or, Run Like Heck 1K for the little ones!) taking place in the spring amidst the gorgeous blooms of Oakland and the surrounding Grant Park area. New in 2014, runners can now set the pace earlier with the beloved event’s new April date allowing the race to serve as a Peachtree Road Race Qualifier. Also new, electronic timing chips will provide racers with results even quicker than in years past. Plan to stay the day and picnic post-race. A picnic basket/cooler check will be provided for your convenience – or visit a neighboring restaurant to pick up a take-out lunch. Plus, use your race bib to gain free access to one of Oakland’s famed weekend tours; present your race bib at Oakland’s Museum Shop and Visitors Center weekends through May 11 for a free guided walking tour. Choose from one of the four regularly scheduled weekend tours which begin at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. See website for tour details.
As always, awards will be given for best times by age group, and for best costumes – this year featuring an additional category for best “Easter” bonnet! Get ready to Run Like Hell along the USATF-certified course. Run Like Hell starts at 9:30 a.m. and Run Like Heck starts at 10:30 a.m. www.OaklandCemetery.com
